woke up early :) breakfast at the hotel was really.. can be improved upon!

visited the shanghai urban development center and the pearl today :)

the development center trip was mainly educational, its purpose is to show visitors the changes that shanghai has undergone and who plays important roles in making sure that their plans take flight. the place was really very pretty and we had a splashing good time taking pictures around the place. however, or of course, we still learnt a great deal about the place.

lunch was at second-floor. the food there is.. really yummylicious. on the way to the restaurant we saw people selling food the very original way, everything placed on the table, you want what just take, many big wooden pots of rice- uhm, just those you’ll see on television in old soap operas :P

you get the picture actually :)

there’s nothing much about eating xiao long baos eh? we get to eat it anyway even in singapore, in packets, just steam them for abit and tada! there you have it. but eating it in shanghai is another kind of really great feeling. hee. i don’t know how to place my fingers on it but it sure tastes better than packed ones.  ok the chicken that you’re drooling over now.. sorry to be a wet blanket! but it really isn’t as tasty as it looks la :D just average, those that you can buy in chicken rice packets back here. hee.

anyway, after lunch we went over to the purrr. that’s a pearl. haha. it’s quite a shanghai landmark, if you still dont know by now. uh-huh, it’s a very magnificent building. it was quite a pity cus the air pollution level was very very bad, hence we couldnt see much when we went up the building. greatest experience though :)

it was byebye to the purr after a while, and we were given time to.. to wha..

SHOPPING!

hohoho. it was at a Zhengda Shopping Complex. the feeling rocks when the currency doesnt seem to finish anyhow. LOL, im rather serious ok! we grabbed like one full trolley of things and it cost us like.. SGD15? uh. haha, then we went for dinner at a super quiet restaurant.. we almost ‘invaded’ the whole place la hahaha! it was super empty, and we were making a lot of noise.. after that was the most exciting boat ride down wai tan :)

day3 is shangwen day1! .:WOOHOO:. top off this post with a very justified picture of that place! :) nothing like success at first take, so this was like, many many times. anyway, look closely and you see a lightning rod on top of the pearl :P

more soon!  :)

p/s: ugh.. am using firefox now cus my ie is invaded by some virus.. tsk tsk.. am definitely in the least used to this.. :( shall continue day3 when my ie is back.. grr..

Please! Burning foxes tails

that means day 1 in bahasa indonesian :)

everyone likes the shirt right! no you’re only allowed to say yes muahahahahhaha.

ok anyway, we touched down and i was feeling very very overwhelmed with emotions. who won’t leh! i mean, if you fought your way through emotional, financial and mental barriers and when you step on the grounds, it feels especially realistic :)

okay, let’s zip to the hotel! wooo i’m telling you we (meaning me and roomie elaine High School Joker <– go figure) totally love the hotel’s toilet in shanghai okay! the acoustic rocks to this limit that we kept singing and singing inside the shower with all our favourite songs until we got a little tired then did we start going on MSN and our own time. it was really very fun! hee. i kinda miss the times already. dig out and reminisce for a bit after very long, quite a bit of flavour! :)

then, we went out for dinner at this very local thai restaurant. very nice ambience, i like! okay some very unpleasant incidents between a very selfish person and us, but yeah, we are nice ok! we didnt fight or whatever, after thinking twice since we were, afterall representatives of another country’s school. civics! but i sure hope that person does some self-reflection- we are kids leh! ok not saying that kids have any piority but.. shan’t elaborate.

but the dinner was nice! i kinda like the way they serve us. makes us feel like really at home :) i especially like the way they doll up the place too! gilbert was really really cute, we all thought when he said he wanted fruits he would buy like, 1 or 2 apples in case he gets hungry through the night.. but he went out to buy like 1 plastic bag full of fruits! imagine a.. ntuc white shopping bag! it was ultra funny.. btw, gilbert is a sembawang primary school kid who’s with us on the trip :) i think i didn’t mention this! we had like 10 sembawang kids with on the trip :) it was kinda fun knowing them. you know, they are so young and innocent, they dont think the way woodlanders do! although we are more of fun in any sense :P

by the way, leonard (i like to call him mario though!) from OUR GROUP was really very nice and sweet! he was sitting at the same table with our malay girls and he was like teaching them how to use chopsticks to eat! so sweet right!

after a hearty meal with lots of jokes and all, we were set for back to our hotel and a good sleep for the next day :) had a very brief debrief and after the rest were sent back to their rooms, a representative from each room went out with mr tan to get some snacks from kedi. that is if they want. kedi is somewhat like 7-eleven in singapore, it’s a convenience store chain over in china; you can find it almost everywhere :)

day 2? wake up at 6am first!

Okie let’s start now! :) heee like almost 3 months after the trip then im doing this, actually am very guilty! before i get bugged to bug the others to do it, let’s set the good example :)

yup. got the notice that one of the few days that we are gonna spend at shangwen is china’s childrens’ day :) since we are there, we should do something for them eh? very initially we decided upon dikir barat, local malay traditional singing performance for joyous occasions. uh-huh, we wanted it to be like a cultural exchange kinda thingy.. that was when we weren’t really thinking in depth. opps. in the end, we decided to be a little creative to immerse some community songs and a short cheer at the top into the dikir barat as we all felt if it was d.b. all the way it’s kinda boring! so yup.. had fun had fun! actually i’m quite a sick person.. i always like the preparations stage over d-day. from as far as i can remember, i was really feeling this tint of pride when the whole big group decided to come together and listening to ideas, sharing and working together :)

glad that things turned out well in the end :) and taaa.. we had less than 5 meetings and we had to go! it was quite a brave thing to have done now that i recollect hahaha.. but heh, who cares seriously. so long as there’s fun, who cares right! ok so what’s my point -.-

i mean, we all very clearly know it doesn’t have to be perfect, as long as everyone enjoys it :)

Hot honey lemon please,
Bixuan

p/s: i’m quite handicapped now cus i left all my pictures inside the school’s laptop.. so i’m kinda relying solely on my photobucket now which i updated till only day7 :( miss tan, please say that they are not wiped out.. *pray pray
